Initial Consultation, Initial Intake and Therapy Visits:

We understand that finding a therapist can be an overwhelming process. It is important that you find the right person to connect with.  The initial consultation is meant to help us gain a deeper understanding of your needs. We will explain the process of getting started with therapy and answer any questions.  A clear idea of our style and approach to supporting clients will be provided.

An initial intake may be scheduled after the consultation is complete.  Intake sessions are always the beginning of therapy and are done for individual office visits, virtual appointments, family therapy and equine assisted psychotherapy.  The purpose of the initial intake is to gather information and develop understanding of what brings you to therapy and to create a comprehensive picture of your therapy needs. As part of the intake process, we will construct a mental health assessment followed by a jointly developed treatment plan that will guide our work together and help to identify progress and continued areas of focus.

Therapy appointments are scheduled following the initial intake appointment. The frequency and duration of therapy will depend largely on your needs, treatment goals, and progress. Many concerns are readily resolved with short-term therapy. Other chronic or more complex concerns may require long-term commitment before improvement and goals are achieved.

Office Visits, Virtual Appointments, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy:

In person and virtual sessions are 50 minutes long and are scheduled with a frequency that matches individual needs and goals.  Clients most often begin with appointments once per week and space them further apart as goals are met.

We understand that counseling is a deeply personal journey with a process that is often challenging. It is our priority to partner with you to ensure that counseling is safe and effective.  We know that it is essential that you are listened to, supported, and understood.  All visits are held in a safe and confidential space.  In person visits are available at our warm and inclusive setting located at our private equestrian facility in Ridgefield WA.
